DONAGHADEE
RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB NOTES
At the recent 118th A.G.M. of Donaghadee RFC the
outgoing Chairman, Francis Dunn, began his remarks by saying how privileged
he was to be in the chair when the club achieved the promotion to Section
One of the Ulster Qualifying League that everyone in the club had long
sought. He then praised the hard work done by so many unsung heroes,
and especially committee chairmen such as Ronnie Porter (Commercial),
John Todd (Playing) and Simon Lockhart (Youth), and concluded by congratulating
Alan Hingston upon his election as Chairman and wished him much success
in what would be a challenging season..

DONAGHADEE GAIN RUGBY
PROMOTION
Well, the fat lady finally sang!
It was way back on the 18th of February when Donaghadee played their
last Qualifying League 2 game. Remember when the weather was warm and
spring-like? That was ten whole weeks ago. It was a beautiful day at
Sandy Bay in Larne, but the spirits of the Dee men were dull and dark.
They had lost to their hosts on the day, but more importantly they had
finished their season second to Cooke RFC. As was written in the newspaper
notes at the time “Donaghadee apparently can qualify, but the
mathematics is very complicated and the right variables are probably
too unlikely.”

YOUTH TOURNAMENT AT DONAGHAEE
A gloriously sunny Saturday morning welcomed 23
teams from 8 different clubs to Donaldson Park for Donaghadee’s
annual mini tournament and U14 sevens competition. Players and coaches
had travelled from as far afield as Navan, just outside Dublin, to take
part.
There was some amazing rugby played by all age groups
