- Cooke 1XV 63- Donaghadee 6
Last Saturday’s weather started
beautiful and finished dreadful. Right in the middle (the crucial
time of around 2.30 to 4.00pm) it was a half-way house of cold,
dark and not too pleasant. This was very appropriate because
for Donaghadee, playing Cooke RFC in the Miller McCall Wylie
Junior Cup, the rugby was not very different.

- Donaghadee 1XV 14 - Dromore 13
Barban Hill, Dromore has been a bit of

Limavady 19- Donaghadee 3
Losing their Qualifying League 1 game

Bangor 12 - Donaghadee 10
Last week’s Qualifying League 1 game
at Upritchard Park, Bangor may have been a bottom-of-the-table

significance of the day with it being the first league encounter
in over forty years.

- Donaghadee 15 - Dromore 11
Whilst hardly the greatest day in the clubs
history, the importance of opening game of the 2006/07 season
can not be underestimated. The first Section One game for the
club in over 40 years had been keenly awaited and with Dromore
providing the opposition, this was always going to be the most
rigorous of tests for the Dee.

- DONAGHADEE RFC RUGBY NOTES
The first proper game of the new football
season is always a bit special; worries about levels of fitness,
nervousness about any new players, the potential release of
adrenaline pent up over the summer months and the desire to
do well. How much more intense is it all when your club has
just been promoted to a level last experienced nearly fifty
years ago. For young players in Donaghadee this is almost geological
time. 1959 is so long ago that even the grey-haired alickadoos
in their club were schoolboys.
